Visionary Brazilians had taken hundreds of original breed of GIR cows before a century from GIR area of Saurashtra, Gujarat and a finest bull from Shri Krishnasinghji Maharaj, King of Bhavnagar State, Saurashtra. Today Brazil has more 40 lacs GIR Cows. The breed is today on the verge of extinction from India as people of India are using more of buffalo and HF and Jersey cow milk then the Gir Cow’s milk. High quality Gir Cow are available in the district of Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Rajkot in the state of Gujarat. It is a sorry state for us as we could not save more number of original breed of Gir cow in India. Today there are hardly 10-15 thousand original breed of Gir cow remaining in India. The breed is today on the verge of extinction from India as people of India are using more of buffalo and HF and Jersey Cow milk then the Gir cow’s milk.
